Solar photovoltaic System: Design, Construction and Installation

This course provides an overview of the basic PV system applications, primarily focusing on grid-direct systems and aims to create a fundamental understanding of the core concepts necessary to work with all PV systems, including: system components, site analysis, PV module criteria, mounting solutions, safety, and commissioning. During this course participants will learn the design fundamentals of photovoltaic projects; gain knowledge and skills from speacialised trainer with real-life experience in solar energy and electrical delivery fields; understand solar plant components and PV modules; DC system and AC collector design; civil and geotechnical issues; and interconnection to distribution and the bulk power grid.
 

This intercative course also provides an operational understanding of standards, unique purposes of different solar power systems and the basis for requirements comprising both design as well as selection aspects covering the basics of sizing a grid-direct system, wire sizing, overcurrent protection, and grounding.
 

Course Objectives:
✓ Gain an understanding of the physical phenomena which affect the design of systems and methods by which these phenomena can be analyzed as well as the additional requirements which need to be considered in formal specifications to ensure adequate and proper Installations
✓ Gain knowledge in solar energy and electrical delivery fields.
✓ Understand solar plant components and PV modules
✓ Discuss DC system and AC collector design; civil and geotechnical issues; and interconnection to distribution and the bulk power grid.
✓ Plan, design, install and maintain a solar PV system and take into consideration the majority of systems investigating different system configurations, components and operating characteristics
✓ Understand the aspects which are particular to solar PV systems giving operatives the buoyancy to select install and maintain systems
