Scope (Target Group)
This course is intended to provide an awareness of the hazards and requirements associated with works carried out at Height.


Aim:
During the training programme the candidates will gain a basic level of knowledge and competency for working safely at Heights.


Objectives
They will be required to demonstrate their skills and the level of knowledge and understanding of the following key areas:



To make you more aware of the dangers of Work at Heights
Falling Objects
Fall Prevention (Scaffolding, Ladders)
Fall Protection (Safety Harness)
Recognize the importance of Risk Assessment.
Appreciate the importance of all Height Safety Controls and Guidelines.
Determining the serious consequences of the Hazards at your worksite.
Potential serious injury/death.
Failure to comply with and appropriate disciplinary action.
Structure of the Course (Course Content)


The syllabus focuses on:
Work at Height Regulations
What is Work at Height?
Risk Assessment.
What is a Hazard?
Who is at Risk?
Approval to Work.
Recognition of Potential Fall Hazards
Falling Objects.
Properly constructed Work Platforms.
Fall Protection
Equipment Inspection, Safety Harness Inspection record.
Fitting and wearing Fall Arresting Equipment.
Fall Prevention - Ladders
Importance of Scaffold Tag.
Scaffold general.
Working in Poor Lighting.
Assessment: Written Assessment (20 Minutes)
Pre-requisite: None
Certification & Approvals: BSTA Approved Certificate
Validity: N/A
Course Duration: ½ day.
Maximum Number of Delegates: 16 persons.
Venue: BSTA Training Facility.
Health: Every delegate will be asked to fill up a Fitness Form prior to the course commencement.
